Reports, Publications and Education Resources

Three of the key roles of the PHT are to be an advocacy and awareness raising body for the harbour and to monitor how the various councils and agencies policies services, projects and other activities are either contributing to or detracting from harbour and catchment health.

In the course of carrying out these roles the Trust generates submissions and documents which in themselves can be an enduring resource for anyone interested in becoming immersed in harbour related subjects. Because we are nerdy about what councils, the iwi, developers and scientists are up to we usually have a good handle on where the best information can be found.

In the sections below you’ll find reports, publications, education resources and links that are currently topical or of enduring value. Enjoy!:

Advocacy

We speak up for the harbour. Advocacy includes making suggestions to councils, infrastructure providers and organisations as well as public commentary through mainstream media and our own public channels.

Awareness raising

Via a range of communication channels such as: digital and social media, mainstream media, this website and events such as the “Show Us Your Harbour” competition and exhibition.

Monitoring

Keeping an eye on policies, programmes, projects and developments that impact the harbour and challenging politicians or officials if required. We celebrate progress and ask questions if we think things aren’t going so well.
